BAYARD — Third-grade students at Bayard Elementary know they have a lot to be thankful for. They have learned about many things that made the Pilgrims thankful during the first Thanksgiving, and not just the historical facts.

A mite attacking bees might be doing more than just affecting the local honey supply. Pumpkins, watermelons and cucumbers could also be affected by a drop in the bee population.
